June is Senior Pet Month

June is Senior Pet Month

Throughout the month of June, The Bunbury and Eaton Vet Clinics will be focusing on Senior Pets. If your dog is over 8 or your cat over 10 years of age, this month is for you and your pets.

Winter is a particularly difficult time for older pets. Their arthritis tends to affect them more, and because they tend to get walked less in winter they can gain weight and lose muscle, which can exacerbate the arthritis. With new treatment options available, we can do more than ever to help your aging pet than ever before.

Just like people, older pets are also more prone to cancer. Now is the time to have those lumps and bumps checked out to make sure they are dealt with as effectively as possible. A full physical exam can also pick up problems in their early stages and potentially save your pets life.

Dental disease is another common problem with older pets, especially small dogs like Toy Poodles, Chihuahuas and other “toy” breeds. Dental disease can have a significant impact on your pet’s health. Dogs just like people experience pain with dental disease, and it has been shown that oral health can have a serious impact on major organ function, contributing to liver and kidney disease.

For the month of June, we are offering a $15 discount on all senior pet consults. Just mention you have a senior pet when you make the appointment. If you have more than one animal over the above ages, we will apply the discount to both animals. There is a limit on one discount per animal.
